How to remove butter or oil stains

In order to remove butter or oil stains, you have to take into account the fabric and its color.
– On white or colourfast cotton cloth, remove stains with a cloth soaked in benzene or ammonia.
– On a coloured cloth, pour a few drops of ammonia on the stains then dab with wet cloth.
– On silk fabric, sprinkle talcum powder on the stains. Leave a few minutes and then brush gently.
– On wool fabric, sprinkling diatomaceous earth (or diatomite) gives good results. Leave to stand for an hour then dust off.
